Adolescent iridescence
These photographs of you sing to me melancholy.
The white streaks called smiles
and luminescent faces hold an even pitch.
The ones from the photo booth, hidden -
tucked away on the fairgrounds with
with so much pale skin (remember?)
sing such sour notes just past hearing.
There is something sweet in it all
But I cannot figure out the flavor, like
Those mystery-flavored suckers you loved so well.
Maybe that is why you loved me.
The pictures sit in an ever-browning little pile, with
Dissonance echoing out every time I come near.
The faded edges of my life peeling the gloss
Into a tiny tube of iridescence.

The Ballad of the Golden Bell by water-elemental, literature
Literature
The Ballad of the Golden Bell
A bell tolls out on a golden tower,
The solitary sound in a silent town.
Empty streets swallow the quiet singing --
A man with soft ears notes the chime's hour;
The sound of sunlight on a soft bough,
Or a blanket of sweetened air so...
so carefree the birds dare not sing it,
As it resounds from rooftop shingles and spins and mingles
Pirouetting from toe to toe with an even rhythm...
A scratching, a shuffling, against the chiming,
a shuffle and a scuffle to note the timing.
A rattled old man with none of the power
listens to the soft voice that sings from the tower.
----
The world - otherwise asleep - hears not,
A call forgotten
Upon...
Upon the day I saw your face,
I knew to act with upmost haste,
I see the love you see for free,
I want that love to be for me,
I hold you close within my heart,
I just don't where quite to start,
Just how to show you how I feel,
I wish our 'love' could be as real,
The battle's fought, it must be won,
You are unique under the sun,
The fight to win the epic race,
Upon the day I saw your face.

The loneliness of my heart by water-elemental, literature

The loneliness of my heart
'Alone...'
I watch in the snow,
More bitter than any that ever stood,
Fate delt me such a blow,
Greater than any man ever could.
Eternal lonlyness follows feet,
As I walk through the cold,
Forever failing to find heat,
Alas, my fate is fortold.
Alone! Dispicalble Damnation!
Of all the blows that could be delt,
This alone prevents my salvation,
Lonelyness is forever felt.

'I cannot...'
I cannot speak, for words have no meaning,
I cannot act, for actions may be deciving,
I cannot stand, for I am not strong,
I cannot walk, for I am where I belong,
I cannot weep, for I have no tears to shed,
I cannot think, for your not just in my head,
I can only love, for that's all that's truly free,
I can only love, for I belive in you and me.

The Hands of my soul
'The hands of my soul'
I felt my soul reaching out
And I slammed the door
Never told you what I'm about
I don't see you anyone.
I've drifted from tears to fists
From selfless certianty to pain
Of an opportunity I once missed
And I alone to blame
And while you dance alone and alive
I'll simply stay alone
I don't know if I'll survive
Oh! If I'd only shown!

'Failure'
Battered and broken, I lay on the ground,
Screaming out loudly, but making no sound,
With all that I do, it's never enough,
In life or love, and everyday stuff.
I push and I push, but to no avail,
As pushing is useless; I always fail,
I couldn't control the passion inside,
And all that I've touched has withered and died.
And so here I lay, as worthless as dust,
My spirit is shattered, my mind is rust,
I lay here and wonder why I must fail,
For without success, the future is pale.
